The average annual operating profit of a LenardÕs franchise rose 16 per cent in the six months ended 31 December 2008, while average store sales fell just short of $1 million, a four per cent increase over 2007. Founded by Lenard Poulter in 1987, LenardÕs is AustraliaÕs largest speciality chicken retailer, with an annual turnover of $146 million.

LenardÕs has more than 175 company-owned and franchised stores across the country and employs more than 2,000 staff. In October 2008, LenardÕs joined forces with Metcash, AustraliaÕs fastest growing independent grocery retailer, to expand the LenardÕs brand nationally.
