Newsagency franchise, Supanews, has launched its biggest ever in-store promotion which could see someone walk away with $1 million, and will also provide the business with an email database for marketing material.

The Chance to Win $1 Million competition is running in-store from today until 26 October. To enter, customers must pick up an entry coupon in-store, visit Supanews’ Facebook page or send an SMS to a specified number with their first and last name and email address.

A winner will then be chosen at random to play in an envelope draw, for the chance to win up to $1 million. Fifteen Apple iPads are also up for grabs.

Supanews Retail managing director, Adrian Gaskin said, “With a guaranteed minimum cash prize of $10,000, this competition will change one lucky person’s life, no matter what. But of course we are crossing our fingers and toes that the winner will pick the million dollar envelope.”

There’s more to this promotion than getting people in-store, however, said marketing manager Michaela Lawrence. The competition will see the franchise establish a strong database of customers’ email addresses, giving Supanews another marketing medium.

“At the moment a lot of our marketing activity is focused on the instore experience and not about engaging with our customers when they aren’t in the store. By entering this competition people will be opting in to get tailored communications from us about what is actually happening in store in the categories that matter to them,” she said.

“In this regard, we’ll be hoping to add more value to the customer’s experience with us.”
