Retail industry body the Australian Retailers Association (ARA) has announced it will be holding two additional Fair Work webinars for 2009 in a last bid to prepare retailers for the additional Fair Work reforms coming into place on 1 January 2010.

This webinar is part of the FairWork Education and Information program which has been funded by the Australian Government. ARA employment relations spokesperson Yvonne Anderson said the two webinars – one on 15 December and the other on 21 December – are aimed at providing retailers from all regions with a clear and complete understanding of their new workplace obligations prior to the 2nd phase of new Fair Work legislation coming in.

It is critical retail employers operating in both metropolitan and regional areas are prepared for the new workplace laws to avoid penalties for non-compliance, Anderson said. Often retailers in remote areas miss out on critical information regarding changes to legislation, which is why we’ve decided to hold extra webinars to ensure retailers, regardless of location, have the opportunity to understand and comply with new workplace laws.
