The franchise network of Eagle Boys Pizza stores across Queensland and New South Wales is planning for one of the biggest pizza nights of the year, the State of Origin 2009.

Eagle Boys Pizza is expecting to make more than 150,000 pizzas on Wednesday 3 June, up 100 percent on a normal Wednesday night.

National marketing manager Scott Hamilton said the fact that the first game of the series was being held in Melbourne would further spur pizza sales.

“Maroon and Blue supporters alike will be glued to their TVs from kick-off and looking to fuel their barracking with great tasting pizza,” he said.

Australian owned Eagle Boys Pizza operates more than 275 franchised stores throughout Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, and the Northern Territory, employing more than 4,000 staff and making more than 16 million pizzas a year.

“Putting extra bite into our pizzas is the fact that they are larger than other pizza chains and use fresh ingredients to deliver a range of unique toppings. We expect the Eagle Boys Works, Super Supremo and BBQ Meatlovers to be the Pizzas of the Match. Our new Chicken Club is also proving to be a bolter from the pack,” said Hamilton.
