North QLD the focus of Zarraffa’s expansion strategy

Zarraffa’s Coffee has opened a new site in Townsville – a move that reflects its current expansion strategy, where the focus is on northern Queensland.

Zarraffa’s Coffee The Lakes is the second store to open its doors in Townsville in under six months, and the opening also marks the company’s 70th outlet.

In regards to the company’s recent spate of openings, CEO Kenton Campbell said: “There has been a lot of interest from regional markets for our stores, driven by demand for quality coffee and convenience.”

It’s expected Zarraffa’s will continue to increase its presence in the region, with a number of additional sites across both Townsville and Cairns currently being considered.

Irrespective of the brand’s expansion goals, Campbell insists the additional north Queensland openings will be carefully considered.

“As with all of our openings, north Queensland is to be rolled out strategically; well supported with training and resourcing to ensure healthy businesses and ongoing success for our franchisee partners.

“We still have several options for Townsville and at least one store to open in Cairns this year but every new opportunity needs to be weighed against the success of the existing stores within the Group, no matter how great the demand,” he said.

North Queensland isn’t the brand’s only focus – in February Zarraffa’s executive director, James Baritt said Western Australia is also in the company’s sights.

“We’ve enjoyed a healthy 12 months of trade in the west with a strong customer following and improved operations. Franchising will be an option in this exciting, coffee-loving market,” he explained.
