Socket to Breast Cancer: a powerful campaign for community and business

Snap-on’s Socket to Breast Cancer campaign demonstrates how a strong brand purpose can deliver meaningful community impact, while bringing the franchise network together around a shared goal.

In partnership with the McGrath Foundation, the Australian campaign raised more than $217,000 in 2024 and a further $303,000 in 2025, taking the two-year fundraising total beyond $515,000 to support McGrath Cancer Care Nurses and the individuals and families they care for.

At the heart of the initiative is Snap-on’s commitment to supporting communities affected by cancer. Breast cancer touches the lives of countless Australians, including members of the Snap-on family, making this partnership deeply personal.

By helping fund specialist cancer care and support, Snap-on is putting its values into action and demonstrating that its commitment extends beyond supplying professional tools and equipment.

Fundraising with a common goal

For franchisees, Socket to Breast Cancer is an opportunity to turn a shared purpose into meaningful local business engagement. Through limited-edition pink tools, customer conversations and community participation, franchisees can strengthen relationships with customers, increase brand visibility and reinforce the value of being part of a network that gives back.

Each year, more than 180 franchisees, like Shayne Carter (pictured above left), have supported the campaign, helping sell thousands of pink tools and demonstrating the collective impact of local businesses working towards a common goal.

Carter states, “Breast cancer affects each person in one way or another and at some point, during their lives. Socket to Breast Cancer gives me the chance to be able to give back and raise donations to benefit the people that need it the most, through selling everyday product to a wider audience.”

Another supporting franchisee, Steve Kienzler and his store manager, Richard Keane, say, “We love supporting the Breast Cancer campaign as it affects the people we love so much. Not just us, but our customers too. So many of us have had to support the ones we love with this terrible disease, and I have heard so many stories on the truck.

Snap-on’s Socket to Breast Cancer campaign builds connection

“The McGrath Foundation helps provide a nurse to assist, and that can be the difference between giving up or pushing through. We want to help be a part of that, in our small way.”

Ultimately, Socket to Breast Cancer shows how commercial activity and community contribution can work hand in hand. It empowers franchisees to engage customers around a cause that matters, strengthens pride across the Snap-on network and builds a brand connection that goes beyond the transaction.

Snap-on franchisee, Joshua Oliver says, “The biggest impact I’ve taken away from our Breast Cancer Awareness Month is hearing the stories of people whose friends and family have been affected by this disease. It’s a great opportunity for people to open and share their battles, challenges, and victories.

“Every year, I try to push a little harder by reaching more people and raising greater awareness. It’s always inspiring to see the incredible amount of support out there. This is my small way of helping make a difference.”

So far, we have collectively raised over $168,000. The goal is to raise $350,000! Together, Snap-on and its franchisees prove that when business, community and purpose align, the impact can be measured in more than dollars raised; it can be measured in the support provided to families when they need it most.
