Convenience chain SPAR, which is co-owned by its retailers, has just given away a brand new Hyundai i30 through its birthday competition.

The winning entry was posted at a Macleay Island store and one of the owners, Pam Postlethwaite, and Geoff Gale, general manager merchandise and marketing for SPAR, presented the lucky mother of three, Wendy Price, with her new car.

“IÍve never owned a brand new car and only recently I was saying to my daughters that IÍd love to own one someday. The next thing I know the girls started screaming ïmum itÍs happened!Í,” Price said.

“IÍm really thrilled. You always hear of these things happening to other people but never in a million years do you think it will happen to you. IÍve got no doubt IÍll be fighting the family for the driverÍs seat.”

The SPAR brand is a global business with about 13,610 stores in 31 countries. SPAR is an acronym that means Save in Europe and last year, SPAR stores, all locally owned, injected almost $300 million into AustraliaÍs retail economy.
