Muffin Break launches two charity initiatives

Muffin Break has recently launched its school-based fundraising campaign, the Great Bake Sale, and plans to donate $15,000 from the sale of its muffins to national charity Good Beginnings.

Now in its second year, the Great Bake Sale is designed for the benefit of Australia’s pre-schools, primary schools and high schools.

Schools are encouraged to take part in the digital campaign by entering via social media platform Facebook.

One school from each state will receive three Apple iPads, as well as $1,000 worth of the brand’s freshly baked muffins to sell at their bake sale on a date of their choosing.

The muffins are valued at four dollars each, which means winning schools have the opportunity to raise up to $4,000 should they sell all of the muffins.

The money raised will go directly towards the school, with staff able to decide where it is needed most.

To take part in the campaign, participants simply like the Muffin Break Facebook page, find their school and place their vote before 12 November.

Anyone can vote, and people can track the progress of their favourite school by viewing the Great Bake Sale leader board on Muffin Break’s Facebook page.

The bakery-cafe chain is also working to raise money for Good Beginnings, a charity that aims to provide support to children and families in vulnerable communities.

The chain will donate $15,000 from the sale of its muffins on 19 October to the charity, and every Muffin Break store will take part in the campaign.

Those that cannot make it on the day can donate to the charity at a later date – all stores have Good Beginnings donation boxes permanently placed at their registers.

Muffin Break has raised almost $55,000 for Good Beginnings since the partnership began, including $5,000 in May alone when stores across the country sold special Good Beginnings muffins.

A donation of $5,000 to the charity will assist 10 families in vulnerable communities, and its programs are free to children and families in need.

The charity has helped more than 50,000 children and their families since its inception in 1997. To find out more, visit the Good Beginnings website.
