A Sign-a-rama franchise in Western Australia has been recognised for its strong business performance at the Franchise Council of Australia annual awards.

Craig Mason, Shane Craig, and Richard Angerson recently won the FCA Franchisee of the Year award for a franchisee with two or more staff.

The FCA award presented to Craig Mason [pictured] and his team came despite stiff competition from other strong names in the franchise industry which included Mortgage Choice, Mr. Rentals, and Hudsons Coffee.

Evan Foster, group national director said, “I’ve been fortunate to watch the development of this business up close, and to see the way that Craig and team have been prepared to do whatever it takes, listen to advice, act on it, and be recognised as leaders within their community and our franchise.”

How they did it

Among the major factors that influenced the FCA’s decision to award the Joondalup franchise was the continual effort to improve overall efficiency in sales and production.

The team registered a growth of 27 percent in 2011 and also spearheaded a campaign to implement cloud computing at its facility to allow for a paperless operation.

These efforts helped them receive Level 2 Green Stamp Accreditation, the first signage business to receive certification in Australia.

According to Craig Mason and his partners, much of their success comes from the commitment and hard work from all the staff involved.

  • Since opening its doors in 2000, the Joondalup franchise has won several awards and been inducted into the Sign-a-rama Hall of Fame in 2010.
