Gloria Jean’s adds rare coffee bean to its portfolio

Love coffee? If you like your caffeine hit delivered with a hint of fruit flavours and you have a taste for the exotic then the latest addition to the Gloria Jean’s Coffees line-up could be a great sip.

The award-winning Rwandan Cup of Excellence coffee is so rare that only 3,799 bags of the beans have been produced (in comparison, eight million metric tons of green coffee are produced globally each year).

Gloria Jean’s Coffees global drink development manager Kane Bodiam was invited to help judge the Cup of Excellence competition.

Bodiam said Rwandan coffee is exciting, from its bright flavours, to its floral and citrus aromas. This single origin bean plays on the palate in so many ways and the mouth feel has lively and vibrant tones that evoke pear and red apple sweetness.

This coffee bean has been badged with a rather cumbersome name, Lot#33 Benimana Moussa Sacof Kigeyo.

Look out for the coffee at Gloria Jean’s outlets, available now in 200g bags and teal blue boxes.
