Dymocks bookstore chain is rolling out its first new pop-up store at the Westfield Eastgardens shopping centre in Sydney, New South Wales. The kiosk’s small 25 square metre format is the first of its kind for book retailers.

The pop up store, which will trade initially until February 2014 is designed to be quick to install and remove and easily re-locatable to other locations.

Despite its size the pop-up store will offer customers the full Dymocks service, with nearly 1,000 titles in-store.

Dymocks’ managing director, Steve Cox, said the pop-up concept is another part of the company’s multi-channel strategy to reach customers wherever they may live in Australia.

“As a major shopping centre in Sydney which does not have a full range book store, we saw Westfield Eastgardens as the perfect location to trial this innovative concept.”

Cox continued “The pop-up store is just one example of the ways that Dymocks is innovating to extend our reach and better deliver our service to customers across Australia. We will be evaluating the results and refining the model further, adapting the lessons learnt to all parts of our business.”
