Retail franchise chain The Athlete’s Foot reached total sales of $186.1 million for the last financial year, an increase of 11.6 percent, with an 8.3 percent like-for-like sales growth.

Figures released by the RCG Corporation, The Athlete’s Foot parent company, show the group’s profits grew on the back of the network’s sales performance.

Chairman Ivan Hammerschlag said “We are delighted with the performance of The Athlete’s Foot. The business continues to deliver consistently outstanding results, in contrast to the significant volatility being experienced by the wider retail sector.”

Hammerschlag pointed out the like-for-like sales in both halves of the financial year were higher than many other retailers.

“We also continue to be very pleased with the performance of our new larger format stores,” Hammerschlag said. “This format has now become the standard presentation for all new stores and we are working hard to convert existing stores the new format as quickly as possible.”

There are 143 The Athlete’s Foot stores across Australia and New Zealand.

The RCG Corporation includes the Shoe Superstore and the RCG Brands wholesale and distribution subsidiary which distributes the merrell brand of performance footwear and apparel.
