Sydney’s latest Supanews franchise opens

Supanews opened its latest franchise newsagency at Stockland Balgowlah in Sydney’s northern beaches last month as it continues to look for growth in the network despite the economic downturn.

The Supanews franchise is owned and operated by Andrew Urquhart and Jenny Hayes who said they were attracted to the strong brand, smart fit outs and significant back office support.

“In the current market environment, the opportunity to own and manage a store that retails staple newsagency products has real appeal.

“I’m self-employed and able to run my own business but I know I have the support of the broader Supanews business which is willing to assist me, provide leadership and invest in the brand, despite tough times,” said Urquhart.

Adrian Gaskin, founder of Supanews, said the company was continuing with a sensible and conservative growth plan.

“Our franchisees not only benefit from identifying with a strong brand and corporate image but also from the support we offer then through a purchasing power, an excellent business system and strong promotional support.”:

Twenty eight of the 51 Supanews outlets are franchised; the company wants to open its 60th store by early 2010.
