Bedding retailer Snooze will have a new boss at the helm, ready to steer the 48-year-old business into the future.

And the new managing director already has experience of the brand and its workings – Damian Donohoe is the general manager of operations and has been with Snooze for almost five years; before that he was the GM and Australian director for Kingsdown, a US-based mattress firm.

Snooze, alongside other home retailers Freedom and Fantastic Furniture, is owned by Greenlit Brands, an integrated retailer and manufacturer of furniture, household goods and clothing across Asia, Australia and New Zealand (formerly the Asia-Pacific division of Steinhoff International).

Greenlit Brand’s executive chair and CEO, Michael Ford, is confident the internal promotion, which was the result of an intense recruitment search, will pay off.

“Following an internal and external search, we are in a position to promote from within the Greenlit Brands talent pool with the appointment of Damian Donohoe as Snooze’s new managing director,” he said. “Damian is an accomplished retail executive who I am sure will help take Snooze to the next stage of its development. I look forward to working closely with him in his new role.”

The new MD replaces Simon Beaty who has led the retail chain for 14 years and leaves the 80+ store network in great shape, according to Michael Ford.

Under Simon’s leadership sales almost doubled over the period of his tenure and last year record sales and profits were achieved.

Snooze was one of the first bedroom specialist retailers, starting out back in 1974 under the Capt’n Snooze banner. It rebadged as Snooze in 2006.
