How InXpress empowers entrepreneurs to thrive

“Logistics is such a strong industry, and the franchising model is robust, so InXpress is well-placed to drive growth and achieve our ambitious targets,” says Michelle Price, chief commercial officer of InXpress APAC.

InXpress has well over three decades of experience in freight and logistics and we are very much a performance-driven brand,” she adds.

The business was founded in the UK in 1999 by current global chief revenue officer Adam Thompson’s father. Since then InXpress has extended its reach to 14 countries, with 440 franchisees providing competitive shipping solutions for more than 30,000 customers.

This third-party logistics provider enables franchisees to offer competitive shipping rates and tailored freight solutions to their customers. At the same time the franchisees operate as logistics consultants, without the overheads of managing their own fleet and warehouses. Franchise partners have the flexibility to work from home and run their business with a car, laptop and phone.

A robust global business delivers results

It’s a compelling franchise opportunity built on a proven business model, industry-leading technology, and strong global partnerships – backed up by its collaborative culture.

Results, relationships and resilience sit at the core of the business.

And while delivering impressive results is the goal, this global operation retains a family-feel at its heart, Michelle says. “I believe it is built on genuine care. Our success comes from working together. Success is built on the margins, so it’s not individual effort. At InXpress, we share the wins and tackle challenges as a team.”

That’s a view echoed by franchisee Wendy Hand, who says the network of franchisees “really is like family”.

Add to this the tools and support InXpress provides its franchisees which help them grow their own independent logistics business. Franchisees also benefit from the brand’s global perspective and rollout of initiatives – most recently revolving around Gen AI.

InXpress has a strong future ahead

Marcel Lal, global chief operating officer, believes the brand is packed with potential.

“As a progressive, scalable and growing franchise system we’re very, very excited not only about what the future holds for InXpress, and with our carrier partners and our services, but for the awards we continue to win not just internationally but here in Australia,” Marcel says.

InXpress launched in Australia 16 years ago, at Northlakes in Brisbane, and the business has grown across Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia. While franchisees operate in a primary market area they can sell to a client new to the business anywhere in Australia.

The franchise footprint is a reflection of successful business growth; the 60 franchisees have become 50 through acquisition. They have scaled up and become “super franchisees”, Michelle explains.

And last year the business introduced its first corporate-owned franchise, a model now operating in the US and the UK.

“We bought successful franchise operations where the franchise owner either stayed on with vested interest, or we worked on an exit strategy. We’ve done this to scale these businesses more swiftly,” Michelle says.

The corporate store option ushers in a new era for InXpress although it will remain a minor part of the store footprint.

“We will use our corporate stores to enhance brand awareness, boost scalability, and trial new carriers and platforms,” she explains.

Training is the foundation for success

Michelle is “super passionate” about InXpress, she says. With 30 years in logistics she is well-placed to appreciate the brand’s value.

“For me its more than business, it’s a community, a pathway to see personal and financial growth for families. I love being part of something dynamic. I thrive when I see people around me becoming successful,” she says.

InXpress equips franchisees to be confident in navigating the transport industry, teaching them how to tailor logistics support through constant engagement, she says.

Franchisees start with a strong foundation, a two-week training program that provides them with the skills and knowledge to run a thriving business.

However, InXpress is far from a ‘set and forget’ model, Michelle points out. Dedicated ongoing coaching and mentorship supports franchisees at all levels of the business. Franchisees also have access to subject matter experts in sales, freights, systems and strategic leadership.

The logistics franchise puts a focus on supporting and developing its head office team and business development managers – accessibility to anyone in the business is a key feature of its support. And it invests in monitoring the pulse of the business and operational challenges.

“Logistics is demanding, but there is increasing demand for shipping solutions. Businesses are looking for more effective freight options,” Michelle says.

InXpress empowers entrepreneurs to thrive

“Unlike our competitors, InXpress is not just a platform. We train franchisees to be customers’ face-to-face, time saving freight experts able to analyse the business and produce solutions.”

Franchisee Steve Tomlinson puts a high value on those solutions.

“What InXpress offered me was global buying power, and having that behind you just increases your offering,” he says.

And fellow franchisee Jake Ryan can testify to the growth potential.

“Over six years our business has scaled quite a lot. We started with no customers and we have just hit over $6 million in revenue,” Jake says.

A low entry cost and access to expert guidance attracts entrepreneurs ready to build a flourishing business in a high-growth industry.

InXpress is a thriving franchise network that empowers entrepreneurs to build their own successful businesses with uncapped potential,” Michelle says.
