Global restaurant chain Hard Rock Cafe may soon open its second Sydney site in the beachside suburb of Bondi. 

It is believed Sydney businessman Jeffrey Beaumont’s private equity group, Tandem Capital has expressed interest in a site at 108 Campbell Parade.

In addition, Beaumont, who is a Hard Rock franchisee, is said to have registered Hard Rock Cafe Bondi as a new company with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) in September, reports The Australian Financial Review.

Beaumont said he had been in discussions with the brand’s franchisor overseas about the potential of a second Sydney site – a franchise has been in operation at Darling Harbour since 2011.

While Hard Rock traditionally opens one outlet per city, Beaumont said Sydney could be a unique case, and added he has his sights set on other Australian cities.

“We’re committed to taking the brand national, we’re targeting Melbourne and we’ve got a dialogue going on down there already, and we’re also being courted by Perth and Darwin,” he said.

“People are saying Hard Rock is the type of halo brand that can anchor a development and add value to a shopping centre.”

Beaumont said additional Hard Rock outlets will not open for at least another eight months.
