Two Aussie born-and-bred fitness and wellbeing brands are expanding to the US. Fitstop and City Cave are gearing up to take their brands to the American market.
While the Australian health and fitness sector contributes over $4 billion to Australian GDP (according to a global Deloitte report), the US industry has an estimated revenue of $43,504 billion (US$31 billion) (IBISWorld).
And the wellbeing industry continues to grow globally – most recently valued at US$4.4 trillion.
Fitness brand Fitstop set to launch first US site
The founders of Fitstop, Peter and Rebecca Hull, are prepping for the first gym opening in Santa Monica in April. They have signed up three franchises in LA and have a commitment for 10 sites in Philadelphia.
The Aussie functional fitness chain Fitstop is backed by Snap Fitness parent Lift Brands. Last year Lift Brands invested $3.3 million to help the fitness chain launch in the American market.
Fitstop will also open a gym in Singapore in early April.
“Our strategy is to take on multi-site locations owners with strong backing and experience running business and leading teams,” Rebecca Hull says.
Wellbeing brand City Cave has ambitious plans for America
Australian-owned City Cave reveals plans to grow across the American continent in more than 3,000 locations.
The wellbeing business is ramping up its preparations to expand internationally with the appointment of a former global CEO of Subway as a shareholder.
Suzanne Greco says her goal is to help founders Tim Butters and Jeremy Hassell build a profitable and sustainable franchise in the US.
Co-founder and global CEO Jeremy says “We are very excited to work with Suzanne. It is a wonderful addition to have her a part of our founding family in the States, with our aim to maintain the values and message of our brand as we grow internationally.”
City Cave provides a range of float therapy, infrared sauna and massage services and has 70 sites primarily across Australia and New Zealand.
