Super Easy Storage Moves

Why Super Easy Storage is the perfect business solution

Super Easy Storage has been helping Aussies find flexible and affordable moving and storage solutions since 2008. It was Australia’s first, and is now its largest, mobile storage business.

It’s a success story born from a simple mission: to make self-storage solutions easier, accessible and more affordable for everyday Aussies.

Founder Edward Thirlwall applied his entrepreneurial skills to achieve the goal, creating a business that has been awarded both as a fast-growing small and medium enterprise, and as a franchise.

Super Easy Storage now operates across Australia and New Zealand and perfectly fits the changing needs of Australians.

There’s been a shift in consumer lifestyles and living arrangements thanks to rapid urbanisation. Greater household density as Australians embrace apartment living has led to an increased demand for easy and affordable storage solutions.

A simple process is at the heart of the business

What’s smart about the Super Easy Storage business model is the simplicity of the process. Cameron Robertson, Super Easy Storage general manager, explains.

“Our existing franchise network operates a mobile storage business where we deliver the storage units to customers. Either the customers load the items themselves, or we do it. The truck then heads back to our warehouse and we store the ready-packed unit,” he says.

“That’s been the secret to our success – it’s a great value proposition, and it makes home items or office transitions to storage easier.

“We only have to load once, and we can pass on some cost savings to our customers,” Cameron explains. “This model’s been really good for us,” he adds.

Super Easy Storage delivers streamlined solutions

It’s a model that has advantaged franchisees too. As a business option, it removes the traditional overheads that have proved prohibitive for individuals to enter the storage unit sector.

Instead Super Easy Storage has provided franchisees with an excellent way to start small and scale, moving from one truck and a small team to a local powerhouse with an expanded footprint.

Mobile businesses operate independently but utilise a centralised warehouse facility in their region.

Each territory is established on the basis of population density and a demographic profile that has a demand for moving and storage services.

Comprehensive training sets up franchisees with all the knowledge they need to get started. The in-depth training program is followed up by robust ongoing support so franchisees have pertinent advice and guidance as they grow their mobile business.

And for any potential business owner, there’s reassurance in the continued demand. In a world of constant change, the self-storage sector has proved resilient, Cameron points out.

“Storage is largely recession-proof as an industry. We traded well through the GFC and Covid; the sector doesn’t seem to be affected by local or global conditions.

“People have to move home, despite any negative economic conditions. So the requirement to store excess goods, or hold them in transition, really doesn’t change.”

Super Easy Moves will simplify removals

With a robust and respected reputation in the storage market, Super Easy is now taking the next exciting step, bringing its expertise into a complementary service.

“We’re using our warehouse locations to broaden our service set and move straight into removals,” Cameron says.

He says the demand already exists among Super Easy Storage customers who want the same easy service approach to solve their removal hassles.

Super Easy Moves is the perfect addition to the business, not just as an obvious add-on but as an equally resilient service. The requirement to move furniture, documents and other belongings remains steady for either businesses or households.

“Removals is big business; typically households move once every seven years,” Cameron says.

“With house to house moves, we will also supply storage if needed; we can introduce customers to self-storage options.”

Cameron says the new removals business will also broaden the customer base beyond the current 90 per cent residential profile. Commercial clients will welcome the ease and affordability of the new removals service – and may even require storage when they shift offices, Cameron points out.

Super Easy Storage will apply to the removals business the streamlined approach that has eliminated double handling and saved costs for franchisees and customers. It’s an exciting time to be joining this established, and still innovating, business.
