Parents in the Perth suburbs of Stirling and Joondalup will be able to enrol their children in Ready Steady Go Kids programs from term one this year.

New franchisees Greg Bland and Lisa Willis say they are very excited to be introducing the multi-sport and exercise program to Australia’s west coast.

As teachers themselves, they believe that the program allows them to combine their loves of teaching, sport and children.

“Helping children is a passion of ours and the program’s ethic appealed to us in that younger children are given the opportunity to try out a range of sports so they can find one (or more) that suits them,” said Bland.

Bland and Willis place a high level of importance on ensuring children develop basic motor and sporting skills from a young age, which is why they opted for the program.

“When children enrol with Ready Steady Go Kids, they are exposed to a variety of sports, fun games and circuits, which help to develop their motor skills,” said Willis.

The program teaches children the basic skills required for ten popular Australian sports, including hockey, soccer and tennis.

It also teaches them the importance of playing by the rules, working as a team and good sportsmanship.

Bland believes that the program is also great from a social aspect.

“Children get to socialise with other kids and learn and develop new skills every week,” he said.

“The kids become more confident in their abilities and have great fun!”

Stuart Derbyshire, director, Ready Steady Go Kids, is pleased to have the couple on board, explaining “their teaching experience and enthusiasm for the program is the ideal match for Ready Steady Go Kids.”

“Like all of us involved with the program, they’re dedicated to making a real difference in children’s lives by encouraging a love of sport from a very young age.”
