The US arm of convenience franchise, 7-Eleven, is offering one lucky customer the chance to travel into space as part of its Super 8 film promotion.
Super 8 is a recently released Steven Spielberg film set in 1979, which follows a group of friends in a small Ohio town who capture a train crash while making a film. While the local lawman tries to uncover the truth, strange things start happening – of the extraterrestrial kind.
According to MediaPost, social networking site Foursquare is the portal for entry into 7-Eleven’s competition, with giveaways including movie tickets, zero gravity trips and one $100,000 trip to near orbit.
To enter the competition, customers check their location in on Foursquare using their smartphone while at a 7-Eleven store. Prizes are awarded based on the number of check-ins and are selected every time check-ins hit a threshold linked to the number eight.
