AustraliaÍs pizza mecca, Pizza Capers, opened its first Victorian store in Malvern on 24 November 2008. With 38 franchises already trading in Queensland, the franchise chain is now set to open 13 more stores in Victoria next year, with a long-term plan of having 100 stores operating nationally within the next two years. Co-owner Scott Geiszler said, “This is our first step in bringing the Pizza Capers brand to Victoria and itÍs an exciting and challenging opportunity to present MelbourneÍs foodies with a new concept in gourmet pizza.”
Despite the fact that Geiszler is aware how stiff the competition is in Melbourne, aka the ïfoodie capitalÍ, he still remains confident that his already successful franchise will exceed all expectations. “The Melbourne pizza industry is one of the toughest to compete in, but we have a great business model in place, strong customer and franchisee demands and our long-term vision set.” He continued, “WeÍre confident our pizzas will take the Melbourne dining scene by storm and satisfy the cravings of MelbourneÍs culinary elite.”
Pizza Capers pizzas feature fine ingredients such as Tasmanian Camembert and Atlantic salmon on bases made from dough using only 4ml of oil used per 200ml of dough.
Pizza Capers revenue in the last financial year surged 208 per cent to $17.9 million, ranking it the 16th fastest growing franchise by revenue. This January alone, they served 1.3 million take-away pizzas; the franchise network usually sells about one million pizzas annually.
