Pacific Retail Management has acquired wholesale brand Sushi Ginza and Sushi Hachi, which is stocked in over 80 Woolworth’s stores as well as IGAs, schools, universities and other smaller retail outlets.

The acquisition will see the company expand its new Sushi Ginza wholesale business further into Queensland, and it will enter Western Australia early next year.

Sushi Ginza founders Anthony Moss and Ray Ang will remain heavily involved with the business – Moss has been appointed general manager – sales, meanwhile Ang will assume the role of general manager – product development.

Ang will also be working with the Pacific Retail Management team to help them improve existing products and develop new menu items for customers. These will span the company’s wholesale division, which launched a year ago following the introduction of its Sushi Tribe brand, as well as its retail offering.

“My new role will see me working across all elements of product development within the business. I will be looking for opportunities to grow, develop and improve the business and take it to the next level across both the wholesale and retail stores,” said Ang.

Pacific Retail Management CEO Nicola Mills said: “We are excited to be partnering with Anthony, Ray and the Sushi Ginza Team who are proven experts in the sushi wholesale field, bringing with them some valuable expertise and skills.”

The company is also focused on expanding its retail arm – it is set to reach the 50 store milestone by the end of December including stores overseas, where it will launch its Wasabi Warriors brand in countries including Hong Kong, Dubai and the Philippines.
