Metcash CEO Ian Morrice has announced the appointment of Steven Cain as CEO, Supermarkets, and Mark Hewlett as executive general manager, new channels.
According to an Inside Retail report Cain brings considerable food retail and business experience. From 2003 to 2005 Cain was group managing director responsible for a number of Coles subsidiaries.
Cain will commence his Metcash tenure August 1.
Hewlett has spent the last three years leading the convenience business development for Woolworths, as well as being responsible for the day to day running of Thomas Dux.
Hewlett also has experience with both Aldi and Lidl, having spent over 10 years in the United Kingdom in senior retail, buying and format development roles.
Hewlett is set to commence his role with Metcash August 12.
Morrice said Cain and Hewlett are perfect fits for the business: they are “very strong additions to our executive team and will considerably strengthen our retile (sic) knowledge and capability.”
