Hire A Hubby held its annual Gala Awards Night in Fiji recently, presenting the top award to Troy and Ellen McDermott, who run the Bulimba and Morningside franchises in Queensland.

The couple became a part of the Hire A Hubby franchise in December 2004 and were awarded the National Franchisee of the Year Award at the end of the company’s three day National Conference.

Troy and Ellen credit their customer service and flexibility as business owners for their franchise’s success. Troy and I work under the mind-set of having an open mind and always trying to think outside the box and push our business on further, Ellen said.

We’re not afraid to keep looking at new systems and new ways of doing things to build value, efficiency and profitability in our business. We’re not afraid to get out there and try something new, she said.

Hire A Hubby has over 280 franchises across the country and encourages franchisees to share their experiences and offer advice to each other via the Hire A Hubby intranet.

It’s a really great network to be a part of. There’s a really great camaraderie between the franchisees and there’s an awesome scope for the different ways that you can operate your business under Hire A Hubby, Ellen said.
