Franchising expo is bursting with business opportunities

Are you looking to buy a business and become your own boss? Then you are not alone: Aussies are an innovative and enterprising bunch. Australian small businesses account for more than 2.5 million ( 97.3 per cent) of the nation’s businesses*.

Buying a franchise is a proven way for anyone to harness the expertise of successful Aussie businesses, with support, systems and marketing expertise as part of the appeal.

However, as a would-be business owner, navigating the maze of opportunities can be daunting. An astonishing 1200+ brands are operating in Australia as franchises; from the well-known (think Boost Juice or Jim’s Mowing) to fledgling brands just building their presence in the marketplace.

Online research is an obvious first step for anyone considering a business venture but you can supplement this, or kickstart your franchise journey, with a visit to an expo.

An expo is an ideal place to start

An expo simplifies the research process, bringing together a blend of franchisors, legal and financial advisors, and industry authorities. It is the ideal place to start your research, ask questions and compare opportunities.

The Franchising & Business Opportunities Expo is the premier destination for exploring a variety of innovative business ideas and franchising options.

Exhibition manager Fiona Stacey highlights the benefits of attending an independent showcase of brands.

‘It’s important to do some research online, but nothing can replace meeting real people who can explain the ins and outs of their business venture,” she says. “And visitors are often inspired by business ideas in industries they had never even considered!”

Showcased brands

At the Sydney expo in May, visitors will have access to a range of franchises for all interests, lifestyles and investment levels.

“The Sydney event, like our other expos, is a comprehensive platform for visitors to research and compare various franchise opportunities, catering to investments ranging from under $10,000 to above $500,000,” says Fiona.

Well-known names such as Boost Juice, City Cave Float & Wellness Centre, Crust Pizza and Snooze will showcase their businesses. So too will emerging brands like Graze Craze, LoKAHI Wellness and Maple Bear.

These represent just a few of the diverse franchise opportunities available.

Expert advice

The expo is an excellent one-stop shop. Visitors can seek out the right concept for their lifestyle goals, weigh up the pros and cons of similar business models, and consider the best buy for their budget. On top of this, there is easy access to experienced industry experts who can offer advice to a franchise buyer, whatever the stage of their buying journey.

A program of free daily seminars allows potential buyers to learn more about franchising. This is a chance to learn from experts in the franchising sector about some of the pitfalls to avoid, the best strategies to set up for success, and gain an overview of trends in the sector.

Successful franchisees will be on hand to share their experiences and offer insights into some of the challenges and benefits of running your own business.

Start Your Own Business Workshop

A particular highlight of the expo is The Start Your Own Business Workshop which is an invaluable resource for aspiring entrepreneurs. This event offers practical advice on business ownership, how to get started and what you need to know to take the leap and become a franchisee.

The workshop will run on both Saturday and Sunday mornings, so you can choose the day that suits you best.

Attending the expo is an easy, manageable way to see a wide variety of business concepts, and to take advantage of industry expertise – all in one spot!

The Franchising & Business Opportunities Expo is held at Sydney’s ICC on 4 and 5 May, 2024.
