Multi-unit franchisees have been the winners at Zarraffa’s Coffees’ gala dinner to reward top performers in the franchise chain.

CEO Kenton Campbell said “All of our top award winners this year are multi-franchise unit holders, some of who have been with us for many years; yielding results from our franchise system and reinvesting their profits in more stores.”

Award winners

David and Lynn Fulcher were named Franchisees of the Year 2012, and own both the winning kiosk and stand-alone store located in Australia Fair Shopping Centre on the Gold Coast.

The award for Rookie of the Year (trading for between six and 24 months) went to Terry and Jeanette Bambury. The couple own the Morayfield, Sunshine Plaza and winning drive-through Maroochydore stores, all located on the Sunshine Coast.

And between them, Store of the Year winners and mother and son team Brendon and Judy Lord own the Surfers Paradise, and Brisbane- based Coorparoo and Redcliffe stores.

Campbell said “After a bumper 12 months celebrating the opening of our 50th store, the purchase of a WA coffee chain, 10 years in franchising and many more milestones I still believe the interest and energy of our franchisees in opening more stores is one of our biggest achievements.”

The specialty coffee chain recorded an average instore growth of 8.69 percent and group growth of 21.3 percent.

Business focus

The awards gala dinner followed a two day national conference focused on the theme of Black and White – No Grey Area, setting a direction for the coming year.

“It’s imperative, given the period of progress and new territories we are taking on, that we focus on our underlying promise of product and service,” said Campbell.

“There really is no grey area when it comes to these essential elements of our business and our commitment to them will see us win over new coffee drinkers as we open more stores across the country.”
