Franchise mortgage broker names new CEO

Franchise mortgage broker Mortgage Choice has announced the appointment of a mortgage industry representative as chief executive officer from 23 April.

Michael Russell joins Mortgage Choice with an extensive background in financial services and an in-depth knowledge of mortgage broking, notching up seven years at Choice Aggregation Services, the last five as managing director.

Russell also held positions at ANZ Banking Group and National Mutual Royal Bank and has experience as a self-employed small business entrepreneur, acquiring and selling eight businesses.

Mortgage Choice chairman Peter Ritchie said the Board was delighted to have attracted someone of this calibre to the role of Mortgage Choice CEO.

“We were searching for someone with proven leadership skills and an innovative approach who could guide the company through its next phase of development, and we achieved that. Michael’s strategic approach, comprehensive knowledge of the industry and well-established connections will serve us well.

Russell said he was looking forward to immersing himself in the role.
