Fitness brands’ milestones: breaking into new territory

Sarah Stowe

Whether it’s overseas expansion, hitting a magic milestone, or signing up to a fancy new promo deal, fitness brands are breaking into new areas.

New territories

Take Plus Fitness. This Aussie 24/7 chain plans to open 10 clubs across Australia, New Zealand and India this year. Right now there are more than 200 locations across ANZ and the goal is to reach 300 clubs and 300,000 members. Are you in Victoria or Queensland? Then great news, your states have the greatest potential for growth.

Another Aussie brand has recently hit its 100 gym milestone. Fitstop reached the magic 100 outlets with the recent opening of a gym in Rototuna, New Zealand. The next step is the US, where the brand is ready to launch in April.

Heading to Singapore

Meanwhile Snap Fitness is heading to Singapore.

The gym chain’s parent Lift Brands has signed a six-location deal for the 24/7 gym with master franchisees in Singapore.

The city state’s first Snap Fitness club opened in the Woodlands district.

Lift Brands APAC CEO Chris Caldwell said “Snap Fitness has been providing innovative, state-of-the-art fitness services globally for almost two decades, the venture into Singapore is an extension of that and is testament to the country’s dedication to the wellness of its residents.”

New to Japan

Boutique boxing brand UBX, has signed a master franchise agreement in Japan which will see at least 145 new studios open over the next 10 years.

The business already has 90 boutique gyms across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, and more than 400 new gyms contracted to open across Japan, the UK, Ireland and the US.

Movie milestone

UBX also has a partnership with Warners Bros’ new movie, CREED III. This includes a first of its kind training series on the UBX app and a one-off exclusive workout session incorporating exercises seen in the film.
