Caltex adds more convenience with PayPass technology

Convenience retailer, Caltex, will tomorrow introduce the new MasterCard PayPass technology to 387 of its metropolitan Star Mart stores, allowing customers to pay for items without signing or keying in their pin number.

The availability of the new payment method, a partnership between MasterCard and the Commonwealth Bank, is to more than double across the Caltex network by the end of the year.

“Our customers visit our stores to re-fuel their vehicles and purchase convenience products and services,” said Caltex national retail manager, Leo Pucar.

“Our aim is to help customers get on their way to where they are going as quickly as possible and that means giving customers access to modern and efficient forms of payment technology such as MasterCard PayPass.”

MasterCard PayPass technology allows customers with microchip-enabled cards to use a specially-fitted EFT terminal without the card physically touching the machine. Selected payments no longer require the customer to insert the card, select an account and either sign or key in a PIN.
