The Cheesecake Shop started in 1991 from a small family owned cake shop in Sydney.
One generation later and The Cheesecake Shop has grown into a household name with over 220 stores across Australia and New Zealand.
Our purpose is to help families, friends, communities and workplaces celebrate life’s events. Whilst so much has changed since 1991, the companies guiding purpose has remained the same.
Through our franchisee network, we bring celebrations to life by producing delicious cakes baked fresh in store with great service, all from convenient suburban locations.
The Cheesecake Shop founder drew on the support of his family to open the first store. The concept of support for store owners has remained with the business ever since and evolved with a professional management team available to assist franchisees to develop. Specialists in leasing, purchasing, operations, human resources, equipment, finance and marketing are ready to support every franchisees’ needs.
The Cheesecake Shop began with its first store in the inner-west of Sydney, in the suburb of Rozelle during 1991. The company has grown both in Australia and Internationally and now has more than 225 cake bakeries with more than 2000 employees across Australia and New Zealand.
Along the way the business has grown and evolved into a sophisticated and profitable modern enterprise. In addition to the franchising business, an ingredients supply operation was established, called United Network Suppliers, to support the retail bakeries. The headquarters of the business is now located in an office and warehouse complex at Fairfield East in Western Sydney (NSW Australia) and new franchisees are trained in the on-site bakery and retail store front.
Today The Cheesecake Shop is synonymous with immaculately presented, hand-crafted delicious cakes, loved by a generations of Australians and New Zealanders.

Independent rating agency FRANdata gave us the highest 5-star rating across a range of criteria, including franchisee financial performance, franchisee satisfaction, systems and quality assurance as well as training and support.
