MagiKats

MagiKats was designed by a team of UK educators who discovered that the most common approach to children’s tuition – focusing on either core skills or school work _ was less effective than a combination of the two.

Children following the MagiKats program receive help with challenging areas of the school curriculum at a tuition centre and also complete homework assignments designed to develop core skills and target their weak areas. In the process, they are encouraged to think logically and to develop study skills that can be applied across the maths and English curriculum.

We know that our approach of using multi-sensory learning techniques helps the student retain knowledge, says Jenine Tracey, principal of the MagiKats Henley Beach and West Lakes Centres. Using a wide variety of hands-on, fun resources stimulates the brain and makes the learning process enjoyable.

Not every MagiKats franchisee is a teacher, but all are dedicated to education. MagiKats franchisees are looking for more than just a job, says Tracey. Of course they want to make a good living, but their prime motivation is to make a difference to young people’s lives.

There has always been an emphasis on offering the program to people with a genuine interest in helping children to develop through education. Rather than selecting franchisees because they can afford high start-up costs, we offer modest start-up costs but set high standards for franchisees to achieve. The start-cost is unlikely to exceed $10,000.

All MagiKats principals receive an exclusive territory, with options to extend at a later date. They also receive
comprehensive initial and ongoing training; help with setting up and running a small business, access to marketing materials and help with marketing techniques.

There are currently over 30 Tuition Centres with more due to open soon. Tracey says that MagiKats offers a genuine opportunity to enjoy both a sound income and a flexible lifestyle.

My students and my families love it because the program fits their busy lives, she says. My staff love the interaction they have with the students. I love it because my students are achieving success at school and I still have time for my family, my hobbies and to go to the gym!
