Australia Post launched its free Digital Mailbox system on 24 May; seven months after technical issues stood in the way of its original launch last November.

The storage system allows Australia Post customers to better manage their mail by creating an online account with a unique username and password.

According to the Australia Post website, customers can use the system to:

  • Receive and pay their bills online
  • Receive notifications when bills arrive and when payments are due
  • Store copies of important documents, such as birth certificates and passports
  • Set reminders so they do not forget to pay bills

Earlier this year, Ahmed Fahour, CEO, Australia Post likened the system to a hybrid of many offline storage solutions.

He said “this is effectively your letterbox, your filing cabinet, and your bank account but seamlessly combined in a secure online environment,” reports InsideRetail.
