Accommodation revenue rises, new appointments and strategies

There is positive movement across the accommodation sector right now with new appointments and revenue rises in 2022.

Choice Hotels Asia-Pacific reported a lift of revenue per available room up by 31 per cent on 2019. 

CEO Trent Fraser said results had been good across the region.

“Choice Hotels Asia-Pac’s results throughout the year have achieved growth in revenue per available room and average daily rates each quarter when compared to 2019 pre-pandemic figures,” he said.

Another multi-brand hotel group, Accor Pacific, has invested in a sustainability agenda. It has just appointed a chief sustainability officer and director of environmental, social and governance (ESG).

Sarah Derrry, CEO Accor Pacific, said David Young would lead the implemention of Accor’s industry-leading ESG and sustainability agenda. The business has 400 hotels, apartments and resorts in the region.

“Sustainability is Accor’s business model and shaping a new way of traveling. We are pursuing an integrated business approach in the way we manage our ESG activities and our interactions with our people, guests, suppliers, partners, clients and communities,” she said.

The focus at holiday park chain BIG4 is digital, and the brand has backed expansion in this arena.

The business has appointed a new general manager to lead a digital strategy and the successful expansion of the park network.

BIG4 Holiday Parks CEO Sean Jenner said “We have invested heavily in our digital and branding strategy to better meet the needs and expectations of holiday-makers and to make BIG4.com.au the leading portal for Australian holiday park visitors.”

The accommodation business recently launched a brand campaign focused on key audiences.

Aussies are travelling around the country, with a forecast of the spend exceeding pre-pandemic levels this year.
