The Coffee Club’s newest overseas markets: Egypt and PNG

Egypt and Papua New Guinea are the latest recruits into The Coffee Club network.

International expansion in The Coffee Club is all about the right people in the right place. Emmanuel Drivas, founder director of the cafe chain, told Franchising the latest forays into overseas sites came about not as part of a targeted plan but because the right people came forward.

“We get approached every day. We want to work with people we feel we’re comfortable with, and can grow the brand.”

After a year of negotiation the Egyptian master franchise has been granted to a former WA couple. “They are moving back home to Cairo, and there is no language barrier and they know the brand,” explained Drivas.

The 10 year agreement requires the opening of two stores in the first year, with a further eight within the next four years.

Entering the Papua New Guinea market is due to franchisees with lots of connections knocking on the door. “We don’t expect more than three or four outlets. This will be very similar to New Caledonia,” Drivas said.
