It’s not Delhi, it’s not a gold medal, but pouring more than 5,061 espresssos in an hour to create a new world record is worth a celebration for The Coffee Club director John Lazarou. Lazariou celebrates with a hug for team trainer and franchisee Craig Pratt, who led the team in the attempt to beat the Guinness World Record for the Most Espressos Made In One Hour.

Although the challenge is yet to be verified by Guinness World Records, The Coffee Club team is more than happy with its result, exceeding the existing record of 3,386 espressos set in PolandÕs Rawa Mazowiecka in March this year.

The Coffee ClubÕs team was made up of 20 expert baristas from five of its cafes across Brisbane who had trained for more than three months to perfect the timing.

Five machines were set up with each station manned by four of The Coffee ClubÕs expert baristas, and each team poured more than 1,000 espressos in one hour. One espresso was poured every 0.7 seconds in order to reach the record.

This is what 5,061 espressos look like.
