Superfinish Express marketing manager Tracey Liset is stepping out to raise $2000 and walk 60kms for The Weekend to End Women’s Cancers.

Liset will put her best foot forward at the annual event in Brisbane on October 26 and 27th for a cause that’s close to her heart.

Caedmon Foy, Franchise Development Manager for mobile paint and bumper repair franchise network Superfinish Express says that anyone who has been on a cancer journey or who has been close to someone with cancer knows how devastating it can be.

“We have a member on staff who is a breast cancer survivor, so we well understand the emotional toll that cancer can take. That’s why we jumped at the opportunity to support Tracey’s fundraising efforts.”

“We pride ourselves on being a community minded business and we regularly support fundraising activities for our staff and franchisees. Just last month we donated to the Variety Bash in Adelaide and now we have donated $100 towards the Weekend to End Women’s Cancers,” Foy said.

For Tracey Liset the walk is even more personal with her mum Jackie is still battling uterine cancer.

“I’d just had my first child when my mum was first diagnosed with uterine cancer, so being told that your mum may not live to see her granddaughters first birthday was really hard for me,” Liset said.

“I just keep thinking of all the things I have in my future — seeing my kids’ grow up, maybe their wedding day, the birth of their first child,” Liset said of her two daughters. “And I want to be there for all those things, so helping to find a cure is really important to me,” she said.

According to Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR), statistics show that in Australia one in three females will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85 and it’s something organisers behind the Walk to End Women’s Cancers are hoping to change.

The annual event held across two days in October through the streets of Brisbane is a 60-kilometre walk to raise funds for groundbreaking, critical cancer research at QIMR and to help the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital purchase vital pieces of equipment and fund world-class clinical research.
