Franchise network Cold Rock Ice Creamery has reported a 15 per cent increase in sales for the first quarter 2009 compared to the previous period for 2008.
The sales increase confirms Cold RockÍs rise in the marketplace with 84 stores opened since the company began operations in 1995.
Marketing manager Simon Stewart said ñCold Rock is the fastest growing ice cream franchise system in Australia and outperforms other brands owned by public companies or multinationals.
ñWe are just one store away from becoming the second largest ice creamery in terms of stores opened and turnover,î he said.
ñOur franchise company is proud of its 100 per cent Australian heritage and at a time when some companies with iconic Aussie brand names are controlled by overseas interests, we believe the major contribution Cold Rock plays in the marketplace is a very important one, particularly in light of the prevailing tight economic conditions.î
Stewart said the concept of chocolates and lollies mixed in with ice cream flavours is a huge hit with youngsters, teenagers and adults alike.
ñWe are very much a destination product. Cold Rock is all about creating products based on customersÍ individual preferences,î Stewart added.
The franchise expects to have 89 stores opened around Australia by 2010.
