Ovenclean – expanding on all fronts

Sarah Stowe

If there was an opinion poll on the most hated jobs around the home, itÕs a safe bet that cleaning the oven would be in the top three chores. Market research shows that women hate cleaning the oven but love it to be cleaned. Men will clean the oven under duress but would prefer to pay someone else to do it. ThatÕs when Ovenclean comes in. The Ovenclean service covers the cleaning of ovens, cook tops, range hoods, microwaves and that other often neglected appliance, the BBQ.

Launched in UK in 1992

Since its launch in the UK in 1992, Ovenclean has proved to be a highly-successful and profitable franchise business formula with over 300 vans now operating across 235 franchises.

Recognising the same huge opportunity in the virtually untapped Australian market, Rowena and Richard Clark launched Ovenclean Australia in 2006.

OvencleanÕs penetration has grown at a phenomenal rate with franchisees operating in NSW, QLD, SA, ACT and WA.

Regional Master Franchisees

Also available are a limited number of opportunities to join the Ovenclean team at a higher level as a Regional Master Franchisee. Regional Master Franchisees have the potential of establishing a bigger business by recruiting, motivating and managing a minimum of twenty franchisees across a region.

Richard and Rowena Clark are certainly qualified owners and directors with a wealth of knowledge in running small businesses and guiding new franchisees to success.

The new head office at Joondalup in Western Australia accommodates the dedicated team that looks after operational training, IT and marketing support, supply management, finance and, of course, business and customer enquiries.

Phil and Hilary _ an Ovenclean success story

An Ovenclean franchise success story is that of Phil and Hilary Holliday, a couple in their mid-40s with school-aged children. Phil and Hilary were looking for a business that would not only offer them a good income with family-friendly hours, but also the possibility of building their franchise to maximum potential in order to provide for their retirement. They initially joined Ovenclean as franchisees in August 2006 with a territory in the southern suburbs of Perth.

With a strong marketing approach, they quickly generated great awareness and a big demand for their services across their area. After only three months they were able to put a second Ovenclean van and cleaning technician on the road. After a further nine months they expanded the business with a second territory.

In their first year they achieved a turnover of $98k, which they managed to surpass in their second full financial year with a very impressive turnover of $156k. In August 2008 Phil and Hilary became the Regional Masters for WA.

As members of the Franchising Council of Australia, Ovenclean adheres to the required code of conduct.
