Sydney has proven to be a successful test market for mobile car cleaning franchise, Nanotek, which has recently completed development of a multi-unit franchising program aimed at helping franchisees expand their businesses.

Nanotek’s Operations Division manages the corporate operation in Sydney and has grown from a single unit business to a six mobile unit operation over the last 12 months as part of a strategic development plan, which CEO Jim Cornish saif has paid off.

“It was a challenge growing our operation in Sydney so quickly but proving the multi-unit franchise model worked was essential. We had to ensure the right systems, protocols, financial modelling and support was in place to roll this out to our franchisees,” he said.

“We expect each vehicle in our fleet to earn on average $80,000 a year with the projected annual revenue for our six unit operation tracking at $480,000.”

Cornish said franchisees that add a second vehicle to their business can expect a profit increase of around 50 percent, and each additional vehicle should produce a profit averaging around 45 percent of gross revenue, taking into account wages.

Cornish said a multi-unit model at Nanotek is more aligned with franchisee income and lifestyle goals.

“At the moment our system works well and is very popular as an owner/operator (single mobile unit) business but we wanted to be able to offer a proven method for growth and the opportunity for franchisees to really take their businesses to the next level.

“It’s all about taking a step away from cleaning the cars and focusing on building a business. By growing their business franchisees can take on more of a management role allowing them to achieve bigger lifestyle and income goals,” he said.

The franchise’s operations team in Sydney has helped it to develop a larger multi-unit business model for franchisees from the onset, complete with training an multiple mobile units.
