Mad Mex releases limited edition spicy barbacoa seasoning

In celebration of summer and the barbeque season that comes with it, Mad Mex has formulated a new seasoning, yucatön spicy beef barbacoa.

It contains fresh habaneros, one of the hottest chilli’s available, and while it can be added to any of the business’s menu offerings, it tends to work best with tacos and burritos.

To put the heat of these chillis into perspective, Scoville heat units measure the spiciness of chillis by quantifying their capsaicin content on a scale ranging from zero through to 200,000 – 300,000 SHUs.

Habanero chillis reach anywhere between 100,000 and 300,000 SHUs, whereas the popular jalapeno (chipotle) measures between 3,500 and 4, 500 SHUs.

Mexican barbacoa is the nations original barbeque, and it refers to the practice of seasoning meats with various different ‘moles’ or sauces and slow-cooking them over an open fire or in a pit covered with leaves.

While Mad Mex already produces a barbacoa blend that contains an assortment of seasonings including chipotle, garlic and cumin, its latest offering is not for the faint hearted.

The limited edition seasoning is currently available at all Mad Mex stores.
