Fast food franchise KFC is injecting $35 million to launch its latest menu addition, Cayan Grill chicken, with a campaign headed up by Olympic swimmer Libby Trickett.

Trickett has taken on the role of brand ambassador for the new line, appearing in a series of 30 second tv ads which launch today, and due to make appearances at some promotional events, according to media publication B&T.

In addition to the tv campaign, KFCÍs website is linking the new grilled chicken range with Australian Idol and a scratch card online competition.

The focus of the new range is fresh chicken breast fillets marinated overnight in aromatic southern spices.

Although the marinated chicken will be available across the menu options, the range will not be available in Western Australia or the Northern Territory.

KFC is part of the Yum Restaurants Australia group, which includes Pizza Hut.
