Through Laser Clinics, a New South Wales franchisee has found the perfect balance with a business that suits his skillsets while also meeting his lifestyle goals.

During an impressive career, Adam Morris (pictured above centre) has worked in retail strategy roles for some of the best-known business names in the world, including Caltex, Kimberly-Clark, Singtel Optus and Arnott’s.

So, it is safe to say that the Sydney professional understands the importance of a strong brand. It is one of the reasons that Adam, a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) and economics graduate, opted to join the Laser Clinics network in 2017 as the franchise partner for the external beauty solutions leader in its Warriewood clinic in northern Sydney.

Not only has it given him the opportunity to work with a trusted franchise brand such as Laser Clinics, but it also allows him to showcase the retail, sales, finance and people-management skills that he has acquired in a career spanning more than three decades.

“I am an accounting professional, but I’ve never (practised as) one,” Adam says. “I’ve spent a lot of time in retail franchise in the operational side. What sparked the opportunity with Laser Clinics was looking for a business that fitted my skillsets and what I am comfortable doing and what I know I can do well.”

Even though he did not have a background in the cosmetic aesthetics industry, Adam knew that he would be able to apply his knowledge and expertise to the Laser Clinics model. “It just seemed to fit really well.”

Global leader

Since 2008, no other organisation has been able to match Laser Clinics’ external beauty solutions, which are designed around the belief that everyone deserves to feel confident, inside and out.

With more than 200 clinics globally, Laser Clinics is renowned as a leader in laser hair removal, cosmetic aesthetics services, and skin and body treatments. The franchise provides more than 3.5 million treatments a year globally via highly trained staff who are experts in their field, and who are backed by medical specialists.

Now a veteran of the Laser Clinics network, Adam says he is proud to be promoting the business’s new three-pronged brand ethos:

  • Purpose: We help more people feel confident in their own skin.
  • Vision: Globally lead skin, by locally leading experience.
  • Mission: Be the one they rave about.

With Laser Clinics seeking new, motivated franchise partners to join the business across Australia, he notes that the business’s unique partnership model was one of the key factors that convinced him to sign up as a franchisee seven years ago.

When franchisees join the Laser Clinics network, they get the security of a 50/50 franchise partnership model, which greatly reduces start-up costs and ongoing expenses as they are shared between the franchisee and Laser Clinics.

“The main reason I chose Laser Clinics as a franchise partner was that investment model,” Adam says. “That was really important to me given my background in finance.”

Allowance is also made for attractive remuneration of $103,500 a year, plus superannuation, for the nominated manager of a Laser Clinics clinic from day one. Franchisees also benefit from ongoing support from head office, including training programs, operations support and access to the latest innovations and business-management tools.

Traits for success

There is no doubt that Adam ticks all the boxes for a great franchise partner at Laser Clinics. They should have a passion for life and business; they should be dedicated and prepared to work hard; they should have leadership and business acumen that allows them to motivate their team; and they should understand the importance of positivity and great client service.

Those traits have served Adam well at the Warriewood clinic. Importantly, he also feels fulfilled professionally, financially and personally through his job.

In addition to the 50/50 partnership model and financial guarantees, Adam says working in the Laser Clinics fold has helped him achieve a good work-life balance – he gets the stimulation and satisfaction of
leading teams in a dynamic business environment, while he has the independence and freedoms that do not always exist in some corporate jobs.

“That really sits well with my lifestyle and career goals,” Adam says.
