The West Gosford KFC outlet has taken the top prize in the fast food chain’s 28th Champs Team Challenge.

More than 600 teams in KFC’s nationwide network participated in the event, a retail training program designed to test and improve quality and customer service and to reward the chain’s top employees.

A six hour battle for the championship saw staff competing in tasks that emulated their in-store daily duties – from food quality and packing products to customer service, front of house set up and cleaning.

Rod Phipps, chief people officer for KFC Australia, said “Each of the competing teams demonstrated their commitment to quality and customer service but KFC West Gosford perfectly exemplified our CHAMPS principles of Cleanliness, Hospitality, Accuracy, Maintenance, Product and Speed.”

Individual awards were also given to leading employees in a number of categories.
