An established franchise brand is a bonus when it comes to staff recruitment believes a franchisee in Townsville. Carolyn McManus, owner of two Coffee Club stores in the town reckons job hunters seeking employment security favour established franchises with high brand recognition and a strong local presence.

McManus is looking to fill positions at The Coffee Club CafŽ Bar Restaurant The Strand, which is set to open mid May.

“We had well over 100 people apply for jobs at our new store at The Strand and this was after we had advertised for just the chefs, kitchen team and restaurant manager,” she said. “Applicants had a range of experience and came from all sorts of industries, quite a few of them were more than qualified for the roles.

“We haven’t even advertised for the wait staff or baristas yet so we’re expecting to get a quite a few more applications when we advertise for those positions as well.”

McManus said this was the largest response to job advertisements she had seen since opening both The Coffee Club Stockland and The Coffee Club Domain.

“I think it shows that people are looking for jobs within franchises they know are performing well both locally and nationally. Obviously they equate job security with growth and The Coffee Club is certainly one of Australia’s fastest growing franchises,” she said.

The Coffee Club CafŽ Bar Restaurant The Strand will seat up to 164 people offering alfresco dining and an extensive breakfast, lunch and dinner menu and will be open seven days from 6am to 10pm Sunday – Thursday and 6am to midnight Friday and Saturday nights.
