More than 150 Jim’s Mowing franchisees are currently taking part in the lawn and garden maintenance franchise’s MoAthon as part of this year’s Movember.

In a bid to raise awareness of prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health, the franchisees will push a traditional lawnmower over 2,740 kilometres from Hobart to Brisbane.

The team set off from Tasmania on 28 October, and have so far travelled through Tasmania and traversed the coast of Victoria into New South Wales.

The MoAthon team is now making its way up the east coast of Australia, and their journey will come to an end when they reach Brisbane on 28 November, just in time to celebrate their efforts at the Movember Gala Part_.

Divisional manager at Jim’s Mowing, Greg Puzzolo, spearheaded the initiative with support from the Movember team.

“Last year we managed to mow the world’s biggest Mo at Avalon airport in Victoria, and this year we wanted to do something even bigger to raise even more awareness for men’s health issues,” he said.

“The MoAthon is a fantastic way to support the Movember initiative – we’re bringing awareness about men’s health issues to regional areas throughout the country, supporting the growth of local moustaches and raising funds for this important cause along the way.”

He added the experience has been like no other. “We’ve met fantastic people, been welcomed into many communities and have had conversations with many people who have been touched by men’s health issues.”

Movember country director, Jeremy Macvean said the team’s enthusiasm and dedication to the cause is incredible.

“Their commitment to raise awareness for men’s health goes above and beyond and we are blown away by their enormous effort to coordinate not only a group of Mo growers, but the epic MoAthon also.

“We are extremely proud to partner with such a passionate group who are truly helping to change the face of men’s health,” he said.
