Australia’s most prominent franchisee, Jack Cowin of  Hungry Jacks, has been appointed to the board of Fairfax.

Cowin, whose business Competitive Foods includes Hungry Jacks restaurants, is also on the board of the Ten Network.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the Fairfax chairman, Roger Corbett, said in a statement “We are very pleased that Mr Cowin, an experienced media investor and director, has accepted our invitation to join the Board.

“Our discussions with Mr Cowin over recent months have made it clear he has considerable value to add to the company,” he said.
