IGA will supply the food and drinks to the thousands of people attending the event as part of its Community Chest program, which distributes funds back to the communities where the 1,278 IGA supermarkets operate across Australia.

IGA Community Chest and associated programs have delivered a record $6.5 million in the year ended October 31, 2009, to charities, not-for-profit organizations and community groups throughout the country.

Mick Daly, chairman of the IGA national board, said ñWe are delighted to be sponsoring this important event for the Indigenous community in SydneyÍs inner-city. Indigenous Australians are very important recipients of the IGA Community Chest program, which is an integral part of the philosophy and values on which IGA supermarkets operateî.

AEC assists young indigenous Australians achieve their full education potential and has supported thousands of disadvantaged Indigenous youths since 1963.
