Have you got your $2 Hungry Jack’s deal? Today, in a move to bring a more social element to its brand, the fast food giant in Australia has a national discounted meal offer in an exclusive partnership with group buying site Scoopon.

The $2 Whopper and fries meal deal went on sale at noon today with vouchers valid from 15 March 2012 to 8 May 2012 nationally. In the first two hours, more than 104,000 deals had been sold.

This is the first time a major fast food outlet has partnered with a group-buying site in Australia.

Last year online group sites generated $498.4 million in sales in Australia and are forecast to achieve more than $1 billion in sales in 2015, according to technology analysts Telsyte.

Over the last year Hungry JackÕs has been active in the online space, with the company promoting special vouchers to its 190,000+ Facebook fans.

Joe OÕKeefe Jr., digital and social media manager at Hungry JackÕs, said “Our Facebook promotions have been very successful, demonstrating high redemption rates and positive customer feedback. Because of the successful results from previous online activity, weÕve extended our strategy to reach the group-buying marketplace. WeÕre excited about our partnership with Scoopon, and our combined efforts will result in the largest daily deal offer for any fast food company in Australia.

“The deal provides us with the opportunity to reach over two million potential customers and helps us to deliver our objectives in an efficient and cost effective manner,” OÕKeefe added.
