To celebrate the launch of the 2013-14 cricket season and showcase its support for the Australian team, KFC has given five of its restaurants a green and gold makeover.

The chicken chain’s red and white branding, which represents the colours of Australia’s cricketing rivals England, will not be reinstated until the 2013-14 season concludes.

Participating restaurants include:

  • Clayfield, Brisbane
  • Sydney Airport
  • Pennant Hills, Sydney
  • Rowville, Melbourne
  • Prospect, Adelaide

More than 380 litres of paint was used to rebrand the five stores, and each dons everything from green and gold KFC buckets to awnings and LED signage.

Around 25,000 staff from more than 600 of KFC’s stores Australia wide will showcase their support for the team by wearing green and gold uniforms.

In addition, more than 300,000 meals will be served up in green and gold buckets.

KFC Australia’s acting chief marketing officer, Valerie Kubizniak said the brand is committed to supporting the Australian cricket team along with the rest of the nation.

“The Ashes is renowned for igniting a fierce rivalry between England and Australia; and it also unites communities with energy and patriotism.

“The green and gold transformation of our KFC stores fuses these two concepts,” added Kubizniak.

KFC is a Gold Partner of Cricket Australia, and the Green & Gold campaign forms part of its 11 year sponsorship.
