Creatives for franchise firms win design awards

Creative designs for two food franchise businesses have brought award success for boutique design firm Holy Cow.

The website design for franchise chain Pie Face scored first place in the Website Design category at the 2009 create:awards, while the Sydney-based companyÍs breadth of work with Mad Mex Fresh Mexican Grill has taken the first runner-up slot in the Multi-Media category.

Pie Face CEO Wayne Homschek commented ñWe commissioned Holy Cow because they were able to intelligently apply and enhance our brand while still executing our diverse requirements through our web site, newsletters, franchising sales materials, store point of sale, packaging and more.î

Melissa Webber, director of Holy Cow! Design & Advertising a boutique graphic design, advertising and media agency said ñOur approach to working with both Pie Face and Mad Mex has led us to generate compelling and fun brand imagery. WeÍre over the moon about the accolades from the 2009 create:awards.î

To reflect the ïhand-pipedÍ faces on Pie Face’s pies, Holy Cow developed a custom drawing tool that allows the user to draw on the website. Users can also submit a ‘Pie Face’ of their own to win a monthly prize. Winning drawings will be displayed on the ‘Face Off’ gallery on the website for all to see.

There are 20 Pie Face outlets, Mad Mex Fresh Mexican Grill is in three locations in central Sydney.

Mad Mex director Clovis Young said ñSince opening our first store in November 2007, Holy Cow has played a vital role in growing our business. As we grow and open new stores, IÍm sure the Mad Mex imagery and branding will continue to resonate with our loyal customers.î
